Today is Valentine’s Day! If you forgot- don’t panic! This list will have you covered. Planning a romantic date for you and your significant other doesn’t have to break the bank or even involve going out for dinner.  That is why I’ve created a list of five fun, last-minute date ideas in the Halton Region:

  1. Outdoor skating in Spencer Smith Park

One of the most romantic, and cheap, date ideas during the winter months is to go ice skating outdoors.

If you didn’t already know, the Rotary Centennial Pond turns into an outdoor skating rink overlooking beautiful Spencer Smith Park and Lake Ontario. This fun activity is free and is guaranteed to get you and your significant other close.

  1. Grab a coffee and browse Oakville’s small shops and boutiques

There’s no better way to get to know your partner or future partner than to go shopping together. Kerr Village and downtown Oakville offer many unique boutiques, bakeries and more! Grab a coffee together and peruse the shops.

  1. See a new movie

Going to the movies might seem like an obvious choice, but I’m going to let you in on a little secret: Film.ca on Speers Road in Oakville offers movies for a much cheaper admission price than the brand name cinemas! With huge comfy seats with lots of leg room and fresh popcorn, why go anywhere else to see a new release?

  1. Browse the new exhibits at the Art Gallery of Burlington

Get artsy with your partner and take a waterfront walk to the Art Gallery of Burlington. Admission is free to all exhibitions, although donations are appreciated. You might even find something special in the Art Gallery Shop at the end of your tour.

The gallery is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm.

  1. Play some indoor mini golf

If you or your significant other enjoy golfing in the summer, this date idea is the one for you. The Putting Edge on Winston Park Drive offers indoor mini golf 12 months of the year. This 18-hole glow in the dark mini-golf course with a different theme in every room is guaranteed to have your smiling.

With extended hours on Valentine's day until 11:00pm, and a round only costing $11.50, this cheap date idea is a winner.
